I absolutely agree with this. I found it as a good way when I’m trying to get some good links to my site. Although, it is too much of a task, spending a few minutes a day doesn’t hurt. Most of the time, spam comments are caught that’s why I didn’t tried to do it. It is bad! =)

Great points that you shared here, Herbert! I personally consider leaving comments on my blog as one of the major things that have contributed to the growth of my own blog. It was a great way to interact and meet more experienced bloggers and learn from them. Of course, it all depends on the comments that you leave behind. Your points here are sure to point bloggers on the right track when it comes to how to effectively leave comments.

When my blog was fairly new and I had a lot of time in my hands, I was commenting a lot, hence, the increase in site traffic. In less than 3 months, my site went from 0 to PR2, which amazed me to no end. Based on experience, indeed, blog commenting helps blogs rank and increase traffic.

I definitely agree with the power of commenting. By commenting and staying engaged you can become part of a community that will probably comment on your own blog. I would add that when commenting on a blog, it is a good advice (when relevant) to include some of the other commenters in your response as this might draw them out and start a conversation thread.

    Hi Herbert,

You know what I liked the most about your article (although all of it was useful) – was that you talked about engaging with the article.

Many people comment just for the links back or to say something that really means nothing.

But you are spot on when you talk about relevance. Making sure your comment is relevant to the article. (Like my comment!).

    Thanks for sharing on BizSugar
    Take care,
    Denise

Commenting on a post about commenting. That is something else. Found this site through Biz Sugar and wanted to say hi. Good tips on commenting. The more real you are and the less robotic the better. A blog admin will read so many comments, why would they spend time on the canned ones?

Leave marketing automation elsewhere, not for commenting.
